Meet Vitoria Pinatto
Rotational Program: Commercial Trainee Program
University: State University of Campinas, Brazil
Degree: Business Administration
Vitoria became familiar with Cargill while studying agribusiness at State University of Campinas in Brazil. She was part of Enactus, a student group dedicated to community development projects, Cargill in Brazil has a partnership with Enactus. When the opportunity to apply to the Commercial Trainee Rotational program came up, she seized the chance to work at a company so vital to her country. In her first six months, Vitoria rotated through several departments, eventually landing in the Brazilian countryside, working in the business unit called CASC. Vitoria is extremely proud of the work she’s been able to accomplish in her program, including a deep analysis of the Cargill financing process. Her work also includes the activities and initiatives to bring innovation and new technologies into the area. Through her experience in the rotational program, Vitoria has been able to learn from colleagues across the company. She’s gained a deeper understanding of the entire supply chain and had the opportunity to meet people across Brazil.
Have you seen the impact of your work?
It is very satisfying to see the impact of my work at Cargill. My work helps develop ways to generate rentability to the farmer and shows new possibilities for them to reduce their financial risks. I’m happy to have the opportunity of bringing innovation into agribusiness.
How did your education prepare you for your role?
University is much more theoretical than hands-on job experience, and I was a member of different organizations that helped me grow my knowledge. One group is Junior Enterprises, where students work together in groups to complete projects and sell them. All of my experiences, both in University and with prior internships, have contributed to what I do now.
What surprised you the most about Cargill?
Cargill is an amazing global company and it made me realize how important agribusiness is in Brazil. The company is full of Business Resource Groups and networks – women gather to talk about diversity and positions inside of Cargill. There’s a team that addresses topics about LGBTQ in the corporate world. These groups allow you to connect with each other and to give your input. We’re also trying to get a Cargill Young Professionals group going in Brazil.
