What does the interview process at Cargill look like?
Our process is designed to be structured while still leaving room for real conversations.
In most cases, your journey starts by applying through our careers site. From there, our Talent Acquisition team reviews your experience and skills to understand your potential fit for the role. If there’s a strong match, you’ll connect with a recruiter for an initial conversation, followed by a series of interviews – typically two to three, depending on the position.
Once the interviews are complete, we bring together feedback and move toward a final decision and next steps.
We aim to keep the process clear and relevant, so you always understand what’s ahead.
How many interviews will I have?
For many roles, you can expect 2–3 interviews. The exact number may vary depending on the position, location, and hiring needs. Each conversation has a clear purpose - so you can have meaningful discussions without unnecessary repetition.
How should I prepare?
Preparation doesn’t need to be complicated. The most helpful thing is to come ready to share your experiences and ask questions.
We recommend:
- Reviewing the job description and thinking about how your skills connect to the role
- Learning a bit about Cargill’s business and impact
- Reflecting on examples that show how you collaborate, solve problems, and learn
Our interviews often include behavioral or skills-based questions. This is simply a way for us to understand how you approach real situations.
Interviews can feel like a big step, so I always try to make the process as transparent and supportive as possible.
What are you looking for in candidates?
We look beyond job titles. During the process, we focus on:
- Your skills, experiences, and potential
- Relevant or transferable capabilities
- How you collaborate and approach challenges
- Alignment with our values
We also value curiosity, different career paths, and a willingness to keep learning.
How long does the process take?
Timelines can vary depending on the role and location. Our goal is to keep things moving and communicate next steps clearly, so you’re never left guessing where you stand.
Will I receive updates or feedback?
We aim to communicate openly and respectfully throughout the process. Your recruiter will keep you informed about next steps and decisions. While detailed feedback may not always be possible, we strive to provide clarity at each stage.
What is the interview experience like at Cargill?
We design our interviews to be consistent, role-relevant, and human.
You can expect:
- Conversations that are structured but not rigid
- Interviewers who are focused on fair and thoughtful evaluation
- Space for you to ask questions and learn about the team, culture, and role
Most importantly, we want you to feel comfortable being yourself and having an open, two-way discussion.
Do you use AI during the hiring process?
We may use technology, including AI-enabled tools, to help support parts of the recruiting process, but hiring decisions are made by people - not AI. At Cargill, resumes are reviewed by recruiters and hiring teams, and interviews are conducted by real people. Our focus is on understanding your skills, experiences, and potential through meaningful conversations and fair, role-relevant evaluation.
Consistent with Cargill’s Responsible AI Principles, any use of AI is subject to appropriate human oversight and is guided by our commitments to fairness, transparency, accountability, safety, and respect for privacy. We do not rely on AI to make employment decisions, and human review remains a critical part of our hiring process. As technology continues to evolve, we remain committed to using it responsibly while maintaining a human-centered hiring experience that treats all candidates with fairness and respect.
