Director, Government Relations
Job Purpose and Impact
The Government Relations Director will guide and represent the company on legislative and regulatory affairs with government officials in regulatory agencies. In this role, you will ensure alignment across the regional company enterprises and build and maintain relationships with government officials at the local, regional and national levels, trade associations, industry coalitions, public services and other authorities to influence policies and positions.
Key Accountabilities
- Organize high level government meetings and engagements.
- Represent the company at forums and gatherings with government officials to advance company initiatives and priorities.
- Develop, maintain, report, and engage on/influence policies and programs to ensure awareness of government legislation and regulatory issues that affect the organization.
- Act as a resource on regulatory matters regarding product changes for a specific enterprise, region or initiative.
- Prepare, organize and represent the organization at forums and gatherings with government officials to exchange ideas and information on business activities and potential legislation that may affect the company. Analyze and interpret policies and regulations.
- Protect and represent the organization's interests in legislative proceedings and in the development of market rules and procedures.
- Develop and maintain positive internal and external relationships to serve business development.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years of related work experience, five years of supervisory experience
- Skilled in the creation and use of compelling arguments to gain the support and commitment of others
- Experience performing in an activist or government relations strategy development and engagement role
- Excellent language capability in English and Chinese
- Have a high degree of policy sensitivity
- Good communication skills, strong sense of ownership
- Strong individual contributor and virtual leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct the development, maintenance and reporting on policies and programs to ensure awareness of government legislation and regulatory issues that affect the organization.
- Ensure that the organization's interests are represented and protected in legislative proceedings and in the development of market rules and procedures.
- Preferably having knowledge/connections of central ministries or having experience working in the government entities.
- Experience and knowledge in agriculture, food and international trade preferred.
