Poultry Nutrition Specialist
Job Purpose and Impact
The Poultry Nutritionist should have technical expertise and science-driven insights to design, evaluate, and optimize poultry feed formulations. In this role, you will support raw material selection, feed program design, and diet modifications to improve bird performance, health, feed efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. You will also provide analytical and advisory services to R&D, production, and commercial teams on key poultry nutritional considerations. You should be able to learn and adopt Cargill’s nutrition system and apply it in your feed formulations for precise nutrition.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide technical support and feed formulations to poultry producers and feed mills for precise nutrition, feeding programs (broilers, layers, breeders), and performance optimization.
- Formulate and optimize poultry feed formulation based on raw material quality, nutrient specifications, cost targets, and production goals.
- Monitor and evaluate feed quality, ingredient variability, and nutritional consistency to ensure feed meet required nutrient specifications and bird performance standards.
- Analyse performance data (FCR, body weight gain, egg production, mortality, etc.) and recommend nutritional interventions to address production challenges.
- Maintain and update nutritional databases (ingredients, feed formulations, nutrient matrices) using laboratory data and industry benchmarks.
- Collaborate with Cargill’s Global Nutrition experts and commercial teams to incorporate market trends, ingredient availability, and cost optimization strategies.
- Conduct trials at Cargill’s Technology Application Centre and support field trials to validate feed formulations, additives, and nutritional strategies and create scientific trial reports.
- Independently solve moderately complex nutritional and production issues, escalating more complex concerns to global experts when required.
- Deliver technical presentations, training sessions, and documentation to internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in BVSc. & AH and Master’s in animal nutrition.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in poultry nutrition, feed formulation and poultry industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of poultry nutritional requirements (broilers, layers, breeders) and feed ingredient evaluation.
- Experience with feed formulation software and nutritional modelling.
- Other minimum qualifications may apply.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition.
- Experience in commercial poultry operations or feed industry.
- Knowledge of alternative ingredients, feed additives, and enzyme technologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
