This position is in our specialized portfolio enterprise where we serve diverse businesses who support unique customers or markets, including animal nutrition and health, bioindustrial, road safety salt and Cargill joint ventures.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Senior Merchant will handle a global and local supplier base, lead raw material planning, negotiation, ensure delivery and work across supply chain for meeting production requirements and specifications for the Aqua Nutrition business. You will have full responsibility for the raw materials in your domain, and you will be part of a highly experienced and collaborative team. From time to time, you will travel and visit suppliers, and you will work with global counterparts and different teams. This role is different every day and requires a high degree of autonomy and ownership of your work and impact.
Key Accountabilities
- Strategic sourcing and developing new sustainable solutions for raw materials to produce feed for the Norwegian salmon sector
- Supplier base development, selection, and qualify new suppliers
- Develop market analytics, supply / demand outlook
- Build raw material pipeline to reduce carbon footprint and improve traceability
- Work closely with R&D and technology team on raw material selection and usage
- Collaborate with transportation and logistics, quality assurance, sales managers and finance to ensure efficient execution
- Work directly with sales organization, suppliers and business counterparts to develop innovative solutions to meet customer needs
- Operate with high degree of independence in a collaborative team environment
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
- Fluent in English language. Norwegian language is strongly preferred
- Strategic mindset
- Open to travel up to 10% of time, local and international
- Animal Nutrition or Aqua Nutrition industry knowledge is preferred.
