JOB PURPOSE AND IMPACT

The Environment, Health & Safety Sr Specialist is an integral leader in the Livestock POD. This role coordinates engagement with the local and regional leadership teams, partners with site leaders to protect what matters:  people- product and planet. This position supports sites through regulatory and management system compliance, helps identify and reduce operational risk and strengthens operational discipline. This job coordinates engagement with the local leadership team, develops organizational technical capability, promotes a proactive safety culture and improves sustainable environment, health and safety performance in the assigned areas.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • EHS STRATEGY & MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: Coordinates collaboration across the group of sites (POD), engineering and leadership teams to align environment, health and safety strategies in the assigned areas and leads implementation and sustainment of the environment, health and safety management system.
  • EHS RISK MANAGEMENT: Leads operational environment, health, and safety risk identification and prioritization, and working with site leadership, supports oversight of the implementation and verification of effective risk controls to reduce exposure and prevent incidents.
  • EHS COMPLIANCE: Oversees compliance with environment, health, and safety regulations, including management of legal and other compliance obligations.
  • INCIDENT INVESTIGATION & CORRECTION: Partners with the team to conduct timely, high quality environment, health, and safety investigations, verifies corrective actions for effectiveness, and ensures key learnings are shared and applied to prevent recurrence.
  • TRAINING & EHS AWARENESS: Leads the deployment of employee training, relevant safety communications, toolbox talks and programs that build skills and reinforce behaviors.
  • PERFORMANCE MONITORING & REPORTING: Oversees key performance indicators tracking, trends analysis, insights and reports preparation and recommends improvements to strengthen safety culture and operational risk management.
  • TEAM MANAGEMENT: Manages team members to achieve the organization’s goals by allocating resources, ensuring productivity, communicating performance expectations, creating goal alignment, giving and seeking feedback, providing coaching, measuring progress and holding people accountable, supporting employee development, recognizing achievement and lessons learned, and developing enabling conditions for talent to thrive in an inclusive team culture.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM

  • Minimum requirement of 4 years of relevant work experience (EHS) in industry / manufacturing
  • Minimum 1 year of experience managing others

PREFERRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical area- (Sciences, Engineering, EHS)
  • Technical certification in EHS Discipline (ASP/CSP/ERM)
  • Process Safety experience ++ for Combustible dust
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in self-directed work/remote work
