This position is in our Ag & Trading enterprise, where we connect producers and users of grains and oilseeds around the globe through origination, trading, processing, and distribution. We also offer a range of farmer services and risk management solutions. 

Job Purpose and Impact

The Soy Merchant will be part of a team responsible for our Soybean meal distribution business in Romania. In this role you will buy and sell SBM via developing relationships with key customers and players and contribute to our voice in the Market. You will contribute to the EMEA distribution team developing local strategies in line with our wider Product line objectives. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high performance in our three key performance areas, Customer Focus, Accuracy, and Entrepreneurial Approach.

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to local commercial gameplans for imported SBM distribution.
  • Selling SBM to regional customers to reach target volumes and gain maximum revenue. Purchase SBM from local market as required to meet product line objectives.
  • Active contribution to Team strategy discussions.
  • Hedging futures and forex, and Daily PNL calculation.
  • Help produce local gameplans, volume targets, key account plans, delivering quarterly ‘Go To Market’ updates as well as Top 10 customer reviews every six months.
  • Help provide local S&D’s, competition analysis within local geography, and being a local market expert.
  • Ensure trades are made within limits.
  • Independently handle moderate issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Explore opportunities to expand our SBM footprint within Romania and beyond.
  • Engage with customers on Sustainability discussions around Soy and deliver Cargill solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Minimum experience of three years in a merchandising role with Ag commodities
  • Strong commercial mindset and knowledge of the commodity trading business
  • Knowledge of the animal feed industry
  • Romanian speaker
