This position is in our Ag & Trading enterprise, where we connect producers and users of grains and oilseeds around the globe through origination, trading, processing, and distribution. We also offer a range of farmer services and risk management solutions. 

Job Purpose and Impact

The Sales Agronomist will be responsible for contributing to crop input sales by leading with knowledge to position products that proactively help our farm customers grow better crops. In this role, you will use your agronomic knowledge to differentiate our organization from our competitors by driving market share, profitability, and customer retention and leading to stronger business relationships with our customers, resulting in incremental sales and margin opportunities.

Key Accountabilities

  • Execute on the organization's crop input sales plans to include customer field meetings, cooperative product trials, customer agronomy events, marketing support and delivery of crop planning services.
  • Position and sell crop input solutions tailored to each farming operation.
  • Work with current and prospective customers to help them grow better crops through making sound crop production and risk management decisions with areas of focus to include crop planning, seed selection, nutrient, weed, disease, insect and harvest management.
  • Maintain good relationships with our key crop input suppliers.
  • Deliver agronomic and commercial training to other customer facing teams and business locations to build internal capability.
  • Workindependently or with the location sales team in positioning products on farmthat proactively help our farm customers grow better crops. 
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma/Certificate or Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience leading through influence
  • Minimum requirement of 2 years of relevant work experience. 
  • Possess a valid, full Canadian Driver’s Licence in good standing, authorizing you to drive independently during the course of your employment.
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of the crop inputs business and the significance of supplier relationships
  • Strong understanding of agronomic services, farm customers and the agriculture industry
  • Possess a Professional Agrologist or Certified Crop Adviser certification
