Job Purpose and Impact

The Shrimp Senior Research Scientist applies advanced scientific expertise in shrimp nutrition and health to deliver research that directly enables the development of new feeds, formulated diets, and nutrition based solutions. The role drives innovation and capability development aligned with Aqua Nutrition & Health (ANH) business objectives and NPSS priorities.
Operating within the global Strategic Marketing & Technology (SMT) organization, this role supports both in system and in market teams by generating, analyzing, and interpreting complex experimental and analytical data. The Senior Scientist independently leads defined research workstreams, influences cross functional partners through scientific expertise, and contributes to strengthening Cargill’s scientific leadership in shrimp aquaculture.

Key Accountabilities

•    Lead the design and execution of shrimp nutrition and health research plans aligned with business objectives and NPSS priorities.
•    Independently design, manage, and deliver complex experimental programs (laboratory, pilot, and field), including protocol development, execution oversight, statistical analysis, and reporting.
•    Apply advanced scientific judgment to analyze and synthesize complex, high volume data sets to support product development and research decision making.
•    Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of research methods, analytical approaches, and technical capabilities within shrimp nutrition.
•    Serve as a key scientific contributor within a global matrix environment, collaborating effectively with R&D, marketing, commercial, and operations teams.
•    Build and manage external research collaborations and third party partnerships (e.g., universities, suppliers, CROs, start ups) to extend research capability and accelerate outcomes.
•    Communicate research progress, methodologies, and results clearly to internal and external stakeholders, including presentations at scientific conferences, industry forums, and customer engagements.
•    Represent ANH as a credible scientific expert within the shrimp nutrition domain.
•    Independently resolve complex scientific and technical issues with minimal supervision; escalate only issues with significant technical or business risk.
•    Conduct all work in compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards within a high safety research environment.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•    Master’s degree or other post secondary degree Animal Science, Aquaculture, Nutrition, Biology, or a related scientific field, or equivalent experience.
•    Minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in scientific research.
•    Demonstrated working knowledge of experimental design, statistical analysis, data interpretation, and scientific research standards.
•    Proven ability to communicate effectively with peers, managers, and cross functional stakeholders.
•    Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex research problems.
•    English Advanced level (Verbal and Written)
•    Other minimum qualifications may apply.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•    PhD or post doctoral experience in shrimp nutrition, aquaculture, animal nutrition, or a closely related scientific discipline.
•    Experience leading experimental programs or defined research workstreams.
•    Track record of scientific communication (e.g., conference presentations, abstracts, publications).
•    Experience managing or collaborating with external research partners.
•    Familiarity with emerging technologies, methods, and trends in aquaculture nutrition and health.
