This position is in Cargill’s food and bioindustrial business, where manufacturers, retailers, and foodservice companies rely on us to consistently deliver the products and services they need, and use our technical expertise and market knowledge to develop innovative products. 

Job Purpose and Impact

The Capital Engineer will plan, support and execute capital project engineering deliverables for Cargill's Eddyville, Iowa facility.  In this role, you will be primarily focused on small to medium sized capital projects from design to startup, while overseeing construction management and documentation.We seek a professional who will develop and apply engineering standards and procedures, providing advice on issues within the engineering field. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the development of capital project scope, schedule and budget while following project management deliverables and best practices.
  • Coordinate staffing and development of construction, commissioning and start-up plans.
  • Lead equipment specification and procurement and develop, review and award bid packages for equipment and labor. 
  • Help conduct cost/inventory/production control and human factors studies to develop and implement plans for facility modifications and revise operating methods.
  • Establish methods to maximize use of production facilities and personnel.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum requirement of 2 years of relevant work experience. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering/project engineering
  • SAP experience
