Shifts Available: 1st (Monday to Friday 6:00 AM to 2:45 PM)
Compensation: $41.00/hr for 3rd class Power Engineer and $48.45/hr for 2nd class Power Engineer($44.30/hr. if ticketed)

Principal Accountabilities

  • Monitor boiler operation (pressure, temperature), including chemistry on water, safety checks and coordination of maintenance activities including lockout tagout and preventative maintenance completion with minimal guidance
  • Record and document maintenance and other boiler related activities
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical problems and provide follow-up as required
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly boiler operation checklist with occasional guidance
  • Complete regular preventative boiler maintenance checks with little to no guidance
  • Maintain building, roof, floor and report substandard conditions
  • Perform emergency duties if required and understand various uses of fire-fighting equipment 
  • Operate ammonia refrigeration syste
  • Other duties as assigned by Chief Engineer

Required Qualifications

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • 2nd class power engineering certificate (3rd class with significant progress may be considered) 
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud, noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of ABSA standards and PSM (Process Safety Management) requirements  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with boilers and steam
  • Experience operating large scale industrial firetube boiler
  • Experience in food manufacturing environment
  • Experience in operating ammonia refrigeration system
