Job Purpose and Impact
We are seeking a Head of Energy Optimisiation to lead our global energy team, responsible for origination, hedging, asset optimization, and managing the market exposure across natural gas, power, electricity, and diesel. This team also secures offsite renewable energy contracts and partners with business to shape energy transition strategies. This is a high-impact leadership role, accountable for managing energy spend and exposure across multiple regions while developing strategies that drive energy transition, support business growth and resilience in highly volatile energy markets.
As Head of Energy Optimisation, you will manage the organization’s energy exposure strategy, expand capabilities through technology and sustainability initiatives, and partner with senior leaders to align the operating model globally.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead global energy spend and exposure portfolio across natural gas, power, electricity, and diesel.
- Develop and implement energy strategies to optimize performance and manage risk.
- Expand hedging and asset optimization capabilities, leveraging digital tools and data insights.
- Build and grow organizational expertise by combining internal talent with external market knowledge.
- Provide thought leadership across trading, operations, and supply chain to shape energy transition strategies and decarbonization solutions.
- Provide long-term leadership and develop high-performing teams of directors and managers.
- Manage a global team with a diverse set of capabilities across the three areas of impact (Physical Supply delivery, Energy Risk Management and Energy Transition)
- Partner with Risk Management teams to develop tools and strategies to present to senior Risk Committee
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in energy origination, hedging, or trading, with at least 7 years in leadership.
- Expertise risk management and market understanding
- Proven track record managing large-scale global portfolios, global teams and driving business transformation.
- Strong background in sustainability and efficiency projects, including use of digital forecasting and optimization tools.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across global teams, balancing multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MBA or related).
- 15+ years of experience including previous leadership of a trading desk.
- Exposure to/experience in a large energy using industry
- Demonstrated success in strategy development and execution.
- Expertise in continuous improvement methodologies.
