Job Purpose and Impact

We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability Technician to join our established engineering team in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a wide variety of manufacturing equipment while developing your electrical skills through industry leading training.

The Role

Working within a highly automated manufacturing environment, you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving plant reliability through planned and reactive maintenance activities. The role combines preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance to ensure the site's equipment continues to operate safely and efficiently.

Weekly Rotating shifts: Mon – Fri 8hrs per shift 6am to 2pm, 7am to 3pm, 2pm to 10pm

Call outs : 1 every 6 weeks 

Key Accountabilities

  • Utilize maintenance and reliability practices with some guidance to ensure all assets are maintained in safe condition while continuing to ensure the life of the equipment being used.
  • Complete preventative, predictive and reactive industrial maintenance throughout the facility, with limited direction.
  • Leverage knowledge and ability to operate 1 or 2 standard maintenance tools such as power tools, basic hand tools, electric tools, precision maintenance tools and preventative maintenance technology tools.
  • Demonstrate experience in 1 or 2 maintenance trades and components (ex. electrical, welding, pipefitting, fabrication, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance and hydraulic and pneumatic systems).
  • Modify with some direction or instruction in either electrical or mechanical schematics, blueprints and operation manuals.
  • Document completed work and the conditions found utilizing maintenance computer software and interact regularly with peers and management to pursue continuous improvement of facility operations.
  • Operate forklifts and scissor lifts following standard production documentation to deliver to the correct location.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

•    A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, Apprenticeship or equivalent)
•    Previous experience within manufacturing, food, FMCG, chemical or other industrial environments
•    Strong mechanical fault finding and maintenance experience
•    Experience working on rotating equipment, pumps, bearings, gearboxes or hydraulic and pneumatic systems
•    A proactive approach to problem solving
•    Good communication skills and a team focused attitude


Desirable
•    Basic electrical fault-finding experience
•    PLC fault finding experience
•    Welding or fabrication experience
