Job Purpose and Impact

The Technical Manager will lead and provide technical knowledge for routine operating activities of the team to ensure the health, biosecurity, animal welfare control and key performance indicators in the production farms. In this role, you will supervise, train and provide overall guidance to technical teams, employees and partners to ensure established goals are achieved for the production quality and food safety requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitor animal health and quality through compliance with the biosecurity systems and animal welfare based on customer requirements.
  • Describe, design and validate processes related to biosecurity, medication use, vaccination and animal welfare aligned to all environmental health and safety requirements.
  • Verify vaccination through laboratory results and support programs adjustments when needed, considering local and seasonal challenges and health status on production farms.
  • Oversee and actively engage in medication program to ensure proper and effective implementation.
  • Provide training to the technical team, including internal and external stakeholders, to ensure compliance with biosecurity procedures and animal safety and quality.
  • Diagnose the health of live animals when abnormal symptoms arise and make corrective actions and recommendations in writing.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Responsible for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance and disciplinary actions for your direct reports. You will also spend time completing the same tasks as employees on your team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Reflects 3-5 years or more of relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience
