Merchant - Grains and Pulses

This position is in our Ag & Trading enterprise, where we connect producers and users of grains and oilseeds around the globe through origination, trading, processing, and distribution. We also offer a range of farmer services and risk management solutions.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Merchant will lead all aspects of routine or standard merchanting work not limited to origination but will be evaluated for sales, business development and risk management activities. In this role, you will monitor a supplier base and fulfill transactions, delivering commodities that meet business requirements and specifications in terms of timing, volume, quantity and cost. You will required to buy and sell commodities from and to various states, producers, feed mills and processors.
Key Accountabilities
- Originate, procure and sell wide range of commodities and livestock to local customers to reach target volumes and gain revenue.
- Work directly with customers, suppliers and business counterparts to develop business solutions to meet their needs for a specific product.
- Collaborate with transportation and logistics, quality assurance, customer managers and credit manager to ensure efficient execution.
- Work with the accounting and finance departments to resolve monthly contract and inventory valuations for a short term strategy.
- Research and analyze various freight opportunities in the marketplace to maximize margin.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Strong vendor management and negotiation skills, hands on with the market activities
- Exposure to physical commodity trade, supply chain operations, knowledge of quality
- Other minimum qualifications may apply
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Min 8 years of commodity industry experience
- Exposure or experience in trading or originating corn, wheat, pulses, rice will be preferred
