Job Purpose and Impact

Sustainability Field Officer is responsible for supporting formal sustainability program activities and addressing conservation related issues across assigned countries, supply chains, and business units. In this role, you will distribute conservation program documents to relevant stakeholders, coordinate closely with colleagues in the supply chain and sustainability teams, and build strong collaborative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across multiple locations.  Additionally, the role ensures the implementation and monitoring of NDPE (No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation) compliance, High Conservation Value (HCV) protection, High Carbon Stock (HCS) management, and Human Rights Protection, particularly within plantation operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure the Conservation Program is well implemented across all locations and stay updated on new developments that may impact the business.
  • Develop innovative monitoring methods and data management for conservation-related compliance, customer requirements, and internal reporting.
  • Prepare for sustainability certification programs (ISO 14001, RSPO, RSPO SCC, ISPO, ISCC, SEDEX, etc.), including gap analyses and follow-up actions related to biodiversity monitoring, HCV, HCS, and NDPE compliance.
  • Assist operating units in complying with Cargill sustainability policies, principles, and criteria, including coaching and training.
  • Develop, monitor, and coordinate internal document and record control for certification requirements.
  • Conduct internal sustainability audits regularly for all operating locations, mills, and estates.
  • Ensure corrective actions from external and internal audits are effectively implemented, documented, and coordinated with relevant units/departments.
  • Monitor and update biodiversity, HCV, HCS data regularly and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders regarding sustainability matters and data inquiries.Ensure assigned sustainability projects are implemented and monitored regularly.

Qualifications

  • Diploma III or Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Forestry, a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in forestry, conservation, or related sustainability work.
  • Willingness and capability to work in remote areas and travel across multiple operating entities.
  • Preferable proven experience in HCV/HCS Assessment, HCV/HCS Management & Monitoring, Biodiversity Monitoring using Standard Method.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Computer Literate
