Job Purpose and Impact

The EHS Manager will provide subject matter expertise in environmental, health, and safety compliance for our Redon site, classified as Seveso, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements and fostering a strong safety culture. In this role, you will develop, implement, and maintain processes and programs to assure compliance with French and EU regulations, including close collaboration with the DREAL, for a complex operation involving highly hazardous processes and significant risk potential.

You will lead a small team (1 EHS Specialist and 1 intern) and act as a hands-on leader who thrives on the shop floor, influencing and engaging employees to embed EHS into daily operations.

This position requires a pragmatic professional - not just a theorist - who can convince, coach, and drive cultural change, while maintaining high standards following internal and external certifications.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure full compliance with Seveso regulations and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities (e.g., DREAL).
  • Execute controls and applicable control programs and document that control programs have been implemented as planned for very large and complex operation with high risk and exposure.
  • Define, implement and lead processes for risks, hazards and opportunity identification and determine resources required to execute.
  • Identify and review hazard, risk and opportunities on an ongoing and proactive basis and ensure that appropriate follow up actions are being implemented
  • Lead action plans by identifying potential emergency situations, creating emergency communication plans that addresses operation or business disruptions, recovery and social media and testing and validating the emergency action plans.
  • Promote environmental, health and safety culture through training and education solutions related to environmental, health and safety issues, practices and risks and coach others as the need arises.
  • Prepare and execute audits and ensure compliance with legal and other requirements are met.
  • Conduct incident investigations based on incident classification and liaise with engineers, management and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence.
  • Lead and develop a small team (1 EHS Specialist + 1 intern), including talent management, performance coaching, and engagement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum requirement of 4 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 5 years or more of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of supervisory experience
  • Strong knowledge of Seveso regulations and experience liaising with regulatory bodies (e.g., DREAL).
  • Proven ability to influence and engage teams on the shop floor.
  • Experience in food manufacturing or other high-risk industries.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a pragmatic, hands-on approach.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Fluent in French; professional English proficiency.
