Hazard Communication Specialist (Remote)

Job Purpose and Impact
The Hazard Communication Specialist will ensure global compliance with government chemical regulations or standards in the areas of hazard communication, labeling and transportation regulations. In this role, you will provide transportation classification and hazard communication support to sales, customers, operations and government agencies globally.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide hazard and transport classification, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) authoring, and labelling services for global businesses.
- Independently gather information regarding existing and emerging chemical regulations and analyze the applicability to industrial applications.
- Review chemical, biochemical and general toxicology of raw materials, intermediates and products to assess risks and ensure compliance.
- Review physical chemical, environmental, animal and human health toxicology in support of global substance classification.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to multitask, learn new tasks quickly, prioritize work, and meet or exceed deadlines.
- Partner with other regional regulatory or product stewards to coordinate hazard communication requirements.
- Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong experience to get substance level information on toxicology, eco toxicology, occupational exposure limits, in vivo and in vitro studies and other hazard classification data from databases of regulatory agencies
- Experience with regulatory monitoring and scientific data tools
- Other minimum qualifications may apply
- Fluent in written and spoken English
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- SAP EHS experience
- Proficient in providing hazard classifications based on Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals for the authoring of safety data sheets
- Background conducting read across assessment for health and environmental data endpoints
- Strong knowledge with one or more of the following: US DOT Hazmat, EU ADR, Canada TDG, IATA, IMDG
