Job Purpose and Impact

As a Technology Application Specialist Swine, you will manage the application of our portfolio offering in the marketplace both internally and externally with our customer base.  Your focus will be on building trusted partnerships, delivering nutritional expertise, and driving business growth through applying innovative solutions. You will liaise closely with the regional and global technology and innovation team to ensure we are continuously updated on all current and future nutritional knowledge and concepts.

The UK & Ireland business is a leading provider of animal nutrition solutions, specialised in the development and production of, premixes, concentrates, additives, and specialties, such as piglet feeds and calf milk replacers.  We focus on delivering core nutritional solutions to our clients to ensure we deliver optimum growth and have healthy animals produced sustainably for the future.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage the UK pig product portfolio ensures specification are set and maintained with the local formulation team to deliver best performance for customers.
  • Manage the local R & D pipeline to ensure that the portfolio delivers on customer expectation. Develop nutritional product and feeding programmes that keep our offering ahead of the market.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of pig nutrition across all life stages, to recommend effective feeding strategies. Translate nutritional science into practical, on-farm solutions that improve animal health, growth, and efficiency.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through Cargill’s Industry Leading Practitioner framework. Stay ahead of industry advancements and continuously refine your technical and advisory skills.
  • Work closely with local and regional teams of nutritionists, production experts, and technical advisors to deliver comprehensive support to customers. Leverage shared knowledge to enhance the value of your recommendations.
  • Stay informed about evolving customer needs, competitor activity, and market dynamics. Use this knowledge to adapt your approach and ensure Cargill remains a leader in Pignutrition solutions.
  • As a key member of the team, your leadership extends beyond sales. You will play a pivotal role in aligning internal capabilities with customer needs and driving strategic initiatives that enhance our market presence and customer success.
  • Work closely with technical, marketing, and R&D teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet customer expectations. Act as a bridge between customer insights and internal innovation, ensuring that feedback and market trends inform product development and service enhancements.
  • Tap into Cargill’s global network of expertise, tools, and technologies to bring world-class solutions to the UK market. Collaborate with international colleagues to share best practices and adapt global innovations to local needs.
  • Actively contribute to team goals by sharing insights, supporting peers, and participating in joint initiatives. Provide input into training programs, marketing materials, and technical documentation to strengthen the overall value proposition.
  • Stay attuned to industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging trends. Use this knowledge to influence internal strategy and ensure our offerings remain competitive and relevant.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in fluent English
  • Demonstrated success as a Nutritionist across the lifecycle of a pig
  • Ability to formulate and apply a full feeding program on farm
  • Lead group discussions
  • Ability to assimilate detailed complex technical information and apply this practically with customers.
  • Strong experience of technically supporting a range of customers at different levels and able to articulate new products, concepts and knowledge. 
  • Able to work cross functionally across a range of internal stakeholders.
  • Willing to travel to customer sites across the UK as required and to internal Cargill locations.
