Job Purpose and Impact

The Maintenance Site Lead is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and safety of plant equipment, systems, and operations. This role combines hands-on maintenance execution with the implementation and oversight of health and safety practices to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace. You will support operational excellence by maintaining asset integrity, minimizing risk, and embedding a strong safety culture across all activities.

Key Accountabilities

Maintenance & Reliability

  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities for mechanical, electrical, and structural equipment, including assets involved in high-risk processes.
  • Ensure the ongoing integrity, reliability, and safe operation of plant systems and installations.
  • Lead and execute maintenance planning and scheduling to maximize equipment uptime and production continuity.
  • Apply reliability excellence and continuous improvement tools to enhance operational performance and reduce downtime.
  • Monitor repair and replacement projects, mitigating risks and ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery.
  • Partner with vendors and contractors to support asset maintenance, upgrades, and new installations, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex equipment and process issues independently, escalating when necessary.     

Health & Safety  

  • Lead the implementation, execution, and continuous improvement of health and safety programs and practices at the site.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, standards, and applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Integrate safety requirements into all maintenance activities, ensuring that work is performed safely and risks are effectively controlled.
  • Support and deliver safety training, identify capability gaps, and tailor content to site-specific needs.
  • Conduct risk assessments, incident reviews, and root cause analyses to prevent recurrence and strengthen controls.
  • Partner with site leadership to embed a strong safety culture, drive accountability, and continuously improve safety performance.
  • Support contractor safety management, ensuring all external partners comply with site safety requirements during maintenance and project execution.
  • Monitor safety performance, metrics, and targets, and support action planning to address gaps and improve outcomes.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance, Safety, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in maintenance, reliability, or health and safety within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Good knowledge of Dutch

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining mechanical, electrical, and structural integrity of plant equipment.
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning, reliability methodologies, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience implementing and managing health and safety programs in an operational environment.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment, incident investigation, and contractor safety management.
