Job Purpose and Impact

The Ethics & Compliance Director serves as a senior compliance leader and trusted advisor responsible for driving a culture of ethics, integrity, and accountability across Cargill’s Food North America businesses. This role provides strategic direction, thought leadership, and practical solutions to complex ethics and compliance matters. The Director deploys and continually enhances compliance programs that align with Cargill’s values, regulatory obligations, and business objectives.

You will act as a connector between corporate compliance strategy and business execution—ensuring that policies, reporting processes, investigations, and risk mitigation activities are consistent, transparent, and effective. This role also plays a key part in fostering organizational learning, leveraging data insights, and shaping an ethical decision-making framework that supports sustainable business performance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Serve as an advisor and key compliance partner to Food North America leadership, providing guidance on regulatory risk, ethics program deployment, and emerging compliance trends.
  • Lead the implementation of Cargill’s global Ethics & Compliance (E&C) framework across Food NA, ensuring alignment with corporate standards while adapting to business-specific risks and operating realities.
  • Oversee internal investigations, ensuring integrity in process, accuracy in outcomes, and appropriate mitigation of substantiated risks. Provide insights to leadership on trends, root causes, and systemic improvements.
  • Leverage ethics and compliance data to identify patterns, evaluate risk exposure, and support proactive decision-making.
  • Design and deliver engaging learning experiences to strengthen employees’ understanding of ethical decision-making, anti-retaliation culture, and compliance responsibilities.
  • Conduct and support compliance risk assessments; identify opportunities for process optimization, technology integration, and enhanced governance.
  • Establish good working relationships with cross-functional partners.
  • Model adaptability and resilience during times of organizational or regulatory change; help leaders and teams navigate uncertainty while maintaining focus on ethics and integrity.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum requirement of 6 years of experience in ethics, compliance, investigations, or risk management. Typically reflects 10 years or more of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated success leading compliance program implementation within a complex, matrixed global organization
  • Proven ability to partner with senior leaders and influence outcomes in a dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional proficiency in Spanish 
  • Strong analytical and storytelling skills, with experience presenting data-driven insights to senior stakeholders
  • Experience with case management tools (e.g., EthicsPoint, Navex) and compliance analytics
  • Deep understanding of food industry operations, culture, and risk landscape
  • Master’s degree or certification (e.g., CCEP, CCEP-I, LPEC)

External Applicant Information

  • This is an on-site role that requires commuting to the office 2–3 times per week.
  • The expected salary for this position is approximately $131,000 to $160,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal.
