Job Purpose and Impact
- The Professional, HR Business Partner - Plant - Protein job supports a manufacturing plant within the Cargill Protein North America group by executing moderately complex people and culture processes aligned to plant and regional priorities. This role partners with plant leadership to implement workforce plans, engagement and learning initiatives, and talent activities, while delivering day‑to‑day HR support for an hourly workforce. The position is accountable for executing regulatory compliance requirements and providing company-based employee relations services, including conflict resolution, investigations, and employee experience matters, while using HR and workforce metrics to identify trends, manage risk, and recommend practical actions that improve performance, engagement, and compliance at the plant level.
Key Accountabilities
- SOLUTION IMPLEMENTATION: Identifies and implements moderately complex solutions to improve performance and retention to increase productivity and mitigate people risks for the plant while also building an inclusive culture. Experience partnering with Talent Acquisition on recruiting needs forecasts and hiring plans.
- PROGRAM EXECUTION: Executes workforce plans, talent programs (succession planning, learning programs, engagement actions) and other projects at the location.
- METRICS & ANALYSIS: Leverages moderately complex reports and dashboards to measure, manage and analyze human resources and business performance metrics at plant locations to translate data into actionable insights for plant leaders.
- DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION: Communicates, adopts and apply diversity, equity, and inclusion principles in daily HR practices in plant locations, such as inclusive hiring practices, fair and consistent policy enforcement employee communications tailored to diverse workforces.
- Ability to describe how they addressed bias risks or inclusion challenges in prior roles.
- HR SUPPORT: Provides human resources support to plant supervisors and employees, acts as the first point of contact for human resources related questions, onboards new employees, triages every day grievance matters, supports leave management, and manages on site audits.
- Supports or executes hourly workforce planning, during high‑volume hiring cycles, turnover analysis, and retention action planning.
- BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP: Partners with key leaders on the execution of moderately complex local people and culture plans, while influencing without authority, coaching supervisors on basic HR practices and communicating policy decisions in practical, operational language.
- OPERATIONAL PROCESSES: Implements moderately complex plant HR operational processes including time and attendance, employee or labor relations, and benefits administration processes to support the overall compliance and effectiveness of the HR operational processes of the plant.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of related work experience independentlyhandling employee relations matters, including intake, documentation, and triage of complaints or grievances and leading investigations and consulting corrective action processes.
- Experience working in fast‑paced, operational environments (manufacturing, food production, distribution, logistics).
- Ability to work on‑site, interact frequently with frontline employees, and respond to urgent people issues.
- Experience using HRIS/time & attendance systems and basic dashboards to inform decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Written and verbal communication in English and/or Spanish, Arabic, Pashto.
- Bachelor's degree or other post-secondary degree in Employee Relations or similar.
- HR certification such as SHRM or similar.
