Job Purpose and Impact

Cargill’s EMEA Capital Capability Centre (CC) is responsible for the design, engineering and the construction of all non-base and complex base projects across five EMEA Business Groups, managing CAPEX value projects ranging from $5 to $300M. 

The Project Engineer Manager will lead the design and execution of safe, regulatory compliant and competitive build capital projects that are operationally efficient, reliable and operate right the first time. 

Initially supporting the development of a Greenfield Chicken Hatchery Project in Poland, this role will lead the conceptual and detailed engineering design throughout the project lifecycle while partnering closely with an experienced Build Project Manager and cross-functional stakeholders.

In this role, you will lead the technical engineering and design of highly complex build projects including providing direction to external engineering firms, incorporating external and internal design standards and requirements, collaborating across engineering disciplines in the development and completion of engineering deliverables, development and tracking of the engineering schedule and engineering cost estimates.

Acting as the local engineering lead, you will help ensure project safety, quality, cost efficiency, and schedule adherence while supporting key project development and investment decisions.

Beyond the initial project scope, this role offers the opportunity to support a broader portfolio of strategic capital projects across the EMEA region.

The role is open to candidates across Poland, with a preference for a location in north-western Poland.

It requires a willingness to travel up to 40% across the EMEA region as business needs dictate.

Key Accountabilities

•    Responsible for the execution of the engineering strategy in coordination with project leaders to deliver safe, regulatory-compliant, and commercially competitive projects that are operationally efficient and reliable.
•    Develop engineering design packages and develop a design that is in compliance with regulatory codes, internal and external design standards and meets engineering standards and manufacturing technology needs.
•    Develop the engineering scope of work to execute project objectives, managing and directing external engineering service providers (ESPs).
•    Lead the development and execution of the engineering estimate and track the engineering progress against estimates.
•    Direct the activities for other engineers that are supporting the development of the engineering design on projects and provide technical leadership to supporting engineers and project teams.
•    Coordinate input from engineering disciplines and domain experts to ensure engineering designs meet the specific needs of the business and operational requirements.
•    Identify, document and communicate lessons learned to appropriate stakeholders and partner collaboratively with regional and global leadership to identify and develop enhancements to engineering work processes.
•    Provide engineering leadership and technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, supporting successful and timely project delivery.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
•    Minimum of six years of related work experience including delivery of complex capital projects within food, protein, or other industrial environments.
•    Fluency in Polish and English (written and spoken).
•    Experience conducting gap assessments, identifying solutions, and driving engineering improvements. 
•    Strong process engineering mindset with a systems-driven, operational approach 
•    Ability to influence, lead, and collaborate across multi-disciplinary and geographically dispersed teams including contribution to portfolio-level engineering initiatives.
•    Experience managing third-party engineering service providers (ESP).
•    Knowledge of environmental health and safety (EHS) standards applicable to engineering and construction projects. 
•    Experience contributing to or leading portfolio-level engineering activities.
