Principal Accountabilities
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electric, propane, and diesel-powered forklifts and material handling equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to support continuous plant operations and minimize unplanned downtime
- Conduct equipment inspections to ensure compliance with Cargill safety policies, OSHA requirements, and food safety standards (GMPs, HACCP as applicable)
- Respond to urgent equipment breakdowns with a strong sense of urgency to support production needs
- Maintain batteries, fuel systems, brakes, steering, tires, and control systems
- Accurately document maintenance work, parts usage, and equipment history in CMMS systems
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability teams to prioritize work and improve equipment performance
- Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives (CI), 5S, and reliability efforts
- Follow all Cargill Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Food Safety policies at all times
- Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work area
Required Qualifications
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 2+ years of industrial forklift repair experience in a manufacturing or plant environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work instructions
- Basic computer skills for maintenance systems and documentation
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, bending, working in varying temperatures)
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Diesel Technology, or related field
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement (CI), and reliability-centered maintenance
- Experience with multiple forklift brands (Toyota, Crown, Hyster, Yale)
