Job Purpose and Impact

The WTG Middle East and Africa desk is the in-house marketing desk of the Cargill World Trading Group and the entire Agriculture and Trading Enterprise. The desk maintains world-class relationships with prominent buyers of food and feed grains in the Middle East and Africa regions. This role is a linking pin between customers and multiple internal stakeholders at commodity trading desks and Cargill grains origin offices, but also other business groups such as Ocean Transportation, Trade & Capital Markets and Cargill Risk Management. The Account Manager will engage directly with key customers to prospect, develop offerings, and customize the services portfolio to meet the customer's needs and profile. You will execute strategies on behalf of the selected customers including marketing of Cargill products, services and sharing market bias.

The understanding of Africa and the Middle East, including business, but also cultural differences are of essence. Energetic and focused; you can read your markets, changes in buying trends, actions and behavior of competition and report those in due time to the internal stakeholder. You are self-motivated, flexible, proactive in anticipating needs, thinking beyond the guidelines provided, and able to work independently and contribute as an effective team member. Strong communication skills, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines in a fast-paced environment are critical. The position requires the ability and discipline to manage and keep confidential information. Attention to detail and strong execution skills are essential.

Key Accountabilities

  • Merchandising of Cargill Agriculture and Trading flows (grains and oilseeds) into Middle East and African countries
  • Account management for key customers in the region, managing customer risk and country risk. Looking at building financing schemes.
  • Proving regional demand insights to WTG trading teams.
  • Research and analyze various freight opportunities in the marketplace to increase margin.
  • Work directly with customers, suppliers, and business counterparts in developing business solutions to meet their needs.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Looking for investment and growth opportunities in the region
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum requirement of 6 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Middle East and/or Africa, good understand of these markets, culture, and history Previous experience in physical trading/merchandizing
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge in understanding margins and price relationships
  • GAFTA contract knowledge and execution of a physical commodity book
  • Demonstrated experience in working with customers, brokers and managing relationships
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Decision making and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage complex supply chains
  • Ability to see situation from multiple perspectives and find win-win solutions for Cargill Strong ability to integrate and apply corporate risk Management principles
  • Ability to work flexible time to match customer needs and countries requirements
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 25 %
  • Team player, willingness to replace colleagues when out of office/holidays/travelling Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Power BI, Teams)
  • Either French or Arabic in addition to English
