Job Purpose and Impact
- The Advisor, Commercial Finance job partners to develop financial strategy, setting clear, financially focused targets for the organization, and ensures effective deployment of capital. As a recognized subject matter expert in commercial finance and financial planning and analysis, this job is a critical business partner for the group finance director and group leader, performing necessary financial rigor and analysis to ensure the achievement of financial results and value creation for the organization. This job also leads the development, management and execution of the capital investment portfolio across the assigned business to align program outcomes, objectives and technical goals with the corporate, group, and functional strategy to deliver business outcomes.
Key Accountabilities
- BUSINESS/FUNCTION FINANCIAL PLANNING: Leads, coordinates and links all financial planning, analysis and forecasting processes, including customer profitability analysis and enterprise service demand drivers, for a multi-regional, regional or multiple country complex business or function, by applying an understanding of key drivers of results and related sensitivities.
- DRIVES BUSINESS PERFORMANCE: Establishes and analyzes performance metrics and business model drivers to drive strategy execution and value creation, applying technology to drive aligned end to end performance management of the business.
- MODELING & ANALYTICS: Develops and delivers advanced modeling and benchmarking to bring new perspectives to the business, and develops and delivers presentations to communicate insights, including defending positions on controversial topics, and adapting style to continuously seek mutually beneficial solutions.
- FORECASTING: Leads developing necessary financial projections and proposals of financial forecast and model for the business to support new product development projects.
- COLLABORATION: Partners with finance, business and functional team members to influence others and improve connectivity and effective communication.
- CAPITAL PROJECT INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT: Leads the development, management and execution of the capital investment portfolio across the assigned business to meet strategic goals of the business and broad organizational goals, maintaining governance of portfolio and program practices.
- CAPITAL PROJECT INVESTMENT PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT REPORTING & ANALYSIS: Monitors and reports on the status of the portfolio performance metrics and goals, overall business impact of projects within the portfolio and programs, identifies variances from plans, and partners with business leaders to propose corrective actions.
- CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Conducts and interprets research to identify key issues and drive continuous improvement, and monitors business impacts, including financial and non-financial impacts, to influence optimization activities and recommend process changes.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of 6 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 10 years or more of relevant experience.
- Fluent in Japanese and English
- Proactive and willing to challenge the status quo
- Strong at building relationships and influencing stakeholders
