JOB SUMMARY

The Brazil Tax Operational Excellence Specialist job independently performs moderately complex tax activities including research, analysis and compliance processes. With limited supervision, this job develops tax solutions, supports the implementation of tax legislation into upstream business processes and downstream tax reporting processes and supports the development of tax process improvements and system enablement. This job collaborates across tax, technology and business teams to translate regulatory requirements into actionable process and system changes and supports the resolution of audits and tax matters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• TAX COMPLIANCE ACTIVITIES: Participates in related projects, coordinates and monitors tax, financial and compliance systems for troubleshooting, training, and data quality purposes, and supports the implementation of tax requirements into systems and applications to enable accurate tax reporting.
• TAX COMPLIANCE & INQUIRY RESPONSES: Provides support to the organization's subsidiaries, joint ventures, business staff and tax department personnel by responding to moderately complex tax inquiries and tax transactions issues.
• TAX COMPLIANCE PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: Analyzes tax processes and related applications from an upstream and downstream perspective to identify improvement opportunities, including data flow optimization into tax reporting obligations, and supports the implementation of standardized processes and operating models.
• TAX SOLUTIONS DEVELOPMENT: Identifies opportunities and provides recommendations to optimize the organization's tax liabilities and risks and implements moderately complex tax planning ideas and process improvement initiatives, including the development of analytical approaches and tools to support tax risk identification and process efficiency.
• TAX COUNSEL: Communicates with and provides advice to business staff and managers, including details around implementation of tax planning solutions and training, and facilitates moderately complex discrete or specialized tax training sessions for colleagues.
• TAX RESEARCH & ANALYSIS: Conducts moderately complex tax related research and translates tax legislation and regulatory changes into actionable requirements for business processes and systems, supporting their implementation in collaboration with tax technology and operational teams.
• AUDITS CONDUCTION & LEGAL DISPUTES RESOLUTION: Develops responses to moderately complex audits and information requests from external taxing authorities for verification from senior team members, retrieves information for senior team members to verify in response to moderate risk audits and information requests from external tax authorities, and handles correspondence with external revenue bodies and or inquiries from taxing authorities.
• TAX TECHNOLOGY & IMPLEMENTATION: Collaborates with tax technology and IT teams to define and implement tax requirements into ERP systems and tax applications, supporting system improvements, testing and deployment activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Relevant work experience in a related area, with demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities of the role.
