Job Purpose and Impact
The Generalist Chemical Plant Operator III will operate, perform maintenance and troubleshoot complex issues for a series of machines and equipment in the use of chemicals to produce consumer products with an in depth understanding of policies and procedures, using judgement and selectivity with occasional guidance. In this role, you will work in assigned areas to ensure production goals are met, support quality production and maximize throughput while following all safety and regulatory policies.
Key Accountabilities
- Operate equipment, technology tools and chemical, mechanical or thermal processes in assigned areas, backfilling or rotating to prior areas, utilizing in depth understanding of broadly defined processes to perform required duties and assist others.
- Use power tools, basic hand tools and electrical tools to perform preventative and autonomous maintenance, troubleshoot complex machine performance issues and provide guidance or support to others.
- Produce products through controlling chemical processes and ensure specifications are met, utilizing computer systems and perform infrequent machine adjustments to ensure the quality of the product, with occasional guidance.
- Interact regularly with peers and management to pursue continuous improvement spanning the full range of facility operations, with authority to make moderate changes, as defined by management.
- Assist with the review, creation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regularly provide peers guidance, coaching and training.
- Interact with complex computerized system to record production, control inventory to meet internal and external customer needs and may unload raw materials, load finished products onto trucks, railcars, etc., requiring operation of mobile equipment such as forklifts, loaders and unloaders, etc.
- Understand and adhere to all safety policies and procedures, maintain a safe and clean work environment and control work pace and progress on assigned equipment and processes, requiring awareness of links with other process areas.
