Industrial Electrician
Location: High River, AB
Position Type: Full Time
Shift Available: Rotating
Compensation: $43.20/hr CAD
Expectations:
Electricians are expected to be good and in strong decision making, problem solving troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills in a very dynamic environment. Demonstrate ability to prioritize workload and effectively meet deadline, also to have the ability to work independently and in a multifunctional team with minimum supervision.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations
- Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components
- Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
- Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors
- Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices
- Fire-alarm troubleshooting and installation/construction
- Design and carry out minor modifications on industrial equipment
- Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records
- Install industrial instrumentation and related devices
- Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations
- Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada
- Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
- Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
- Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud, noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator
- Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, different shifts, and holidays with advance notice
- Basic ability to use a computer and typing skills
- Must be able to operate machinery and/or industrial equipment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office software, with an emphasis on Excel and Word
- High School diploma or Equivalent
- Must be Alberta Journeyman Electrician or Canadian Journeyman Electrician with Red Seal Certificate
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be able to perform maintenance electrical trades
- Experience in Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems, ability to troubleshoot and diagnostics
- Prior experience in production related work
- Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Experience with Arc flash and shock training
