In this position drivers efficiently pick up, deliver and distribute goods and ensure top quality service to customers of Cargill.


Type: Full Time
Compensation: $31.20/ hr CAD



Principal Accountabilities:

Vehicle Maintenance and Operations

  • Operates vehicle defensively and courteously at all times, within requirements of the Highway Traffic Act and with due respect for public safety.
  • Keeps vehicles clean and polished
  • Prevents accidental damage to vehicles and equipment
  • Presents vehicles for scheduled maintenance and reports problems for repair
  • Performs roadside repairs as required
  • Wears a clean uniform and maintains excellent personal grooming when on duty
  • Deals with customers, suppliers and the public in a polite and friendly manner.


Pick Up and Delivery of Goods

  • Picks up and delivers loads on schedule
  • Organizes load to meet schedule and customer specifications
  • Ensures correct counts when loading and unloading
  • Ensures that the product is kept in top condition
  • Controls truck temperature as necessary
  • Ensures bio-security procedures are followed at pick up and delivery sites


Administration

  • Ensures log books, time sheets, inspection reports are maintained accurately and timely.
  • Completes all necessary shipping and receiving documentation
  • Completes trip and fuel reports


Within the Corporation: 

  • Shift Supervisors, Co-ordinator - Sales, Manager – Grower Farm (exchange information, coordinate efforts, receive direction) – daily.


Within the Divisions: 

  • Manager - Fleet Safety, Manager – Maintenance Operations, Maintenance Personnel - Cargill Transportation (seek services, exchange information), Occupational Health Nurses, Company Doctor (exchange information)- daily to monthly.


Outside the Corporation: 

  • Customers' Shippers/Receivers – daily. Customs Officers, Various Personnel from other Hatcheries, Maintenance Repair Shops, Ministry of Transportation (exchange information, arrange schedules) - daily to monthly.


Required Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada. 
  • Cargill requires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Must be able to operate machinery and/or industrial equipment
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice
  • A valid Canadian full class “DZ” driver's license in good standing authorizing you to drive independently during the course of your employment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic computer skills 
  • 1 year previous driving experience
