Job Purpose and Impact

The EMEA Trade Compliance Excellence Consultant, will develop regional operational excellence to the company for the assigned process area to drive efficiency and compliance in international trade operations. In this role, you will handle regional processes for complex harmonized system classifications and preferential origin determination to ensure consistency and adherence to relevant regulations and standards for both areas. You will support the development of strategic programs of change for the sustainable process improvement and partner with key regional internal and external stakeholders within your process area.

Preferred location is Sant Cugat (Spain) but open to other major Cargill European locations as alternative.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as domain authority to execute harmonized system classifications, ensure accurate and compliant classification of products and for preferential origin determination process to ensure products meet requirements for free trade agreements to benefit business from reduced customs duties and tariffs.
  • Develop opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement within the related workflow, apply best practices for implementation and support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize the user experience and the evolution of the process capability.
  • Implement required changes in international trade regulations, including preferential origin regulations, trade agreements and harmonized system code updates to ensure processes alignment and partner closely with cross functional teams to ensure seamless integration into operations.
  • Deploy complex operating model of the related process in collaboration with the essential leaders to support senior leadership and drive continuous improvement across the assigned areas.
  • Develop an integrated strategic end to end process in alignment with the technology roadmap and data management strategy to integrate sub processes and enable all processes with people, technology and data.
  • Maintain and communicate complex data and metrics to make informed decisions, support strategic planning and continuous growth of the capability including review of processes, policies, data standards and required training to team members and stakeholders.
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Support businesses as customs regulatory and legislative changes occur.
  • Conduct import and export risk assessments, providing strategy and planning support for Cargill business units involved in import and export activities.
  • Retrieve information in response to moderate risk audits and information requests from external customs authorities, verifying with more senior team members.
  • Assist with structuring all aspects of corporate customs compliance policies and guidelines, liaising with government and associations to build a reputation of compliance.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Confirmed experience in customs compliance, harmonized system classification with full knowledge of international trade regulations and free trade agreements regionally
  • Confirmed knowledge of customs and import export regulations
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Fluent level of English (written and spoken)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
