Job Purpose and Impact

Cargill Trade & Capital Markets (“TCM”) focuses on optimizing and monetizing financial market opportunities that arise out of the commercial activities of its customers and provides financial solutions to their suppliers and customers. The business aids in mitigating the documentary, cross-border and credit risks associated with structured trade financing. It plays a key role in funding the global operations of Cargill through cross-border funding structures and the management of transferability and convertibility risks. It also leverages Cargill's international trade flows to create trade structures that provide funding to emerging market-based financial institutions and corporations. Additionally, the business maintains a fixed income and foreign exchange trading capability through its embedded emerging market trading organization. Based in Singapore, the business has a global presence, including major offices in Brazil, China, Russia, Switzerland and the U.S.

This role will drive business origination for TCM focused on China.  TCM’s Originator will be responsible for generating revenue to drive the group’s growth initiatives by developing new business opportunities with corporates in the region as well as with Cargill’s Business Groups.  This role will also support the growth initiatives by working with existing team in generating new business opportunities as well as solidifying existing relationships with corporates in the region as well as Cargill’s Business Groups.  TCM’s Originator must possess strong corporate finance skills and experience, have the ability to understand customer’s needs and provide them with financial solutions that fit those needs.

Key Accountabilities

  • 65% Develop new customer relationships together with senior originators leading to additional revenue generation. Innovation of new products/structures.
  • Work with existing team in developing and maintaining new customers – growing business with new and existing customers in the region to achieve revenue objectives.
  • Development of new and innovative financial solutions which are typically complex in nature.  Negotiate and finalize financing structure and terms and conditions terms with customers.
  • Develop and work on financial modeling in particular with Project Finance structures.
  • Prospecting, market and industry research leading to profitable growth opportunities, collaboration with functional and trading teams.
  • Identifies inherent risks and develops risk mitigation strategies.
  • 25% Going deeper and nurturing existing relationships – solidify current base. Work with Cargill Business Groups, including BG Sales Teams, as well as external customers.
  • 10% Different projects as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree in a relevant discipline
  • Track record of having developed successful commercial relationships with clients
  • English language fluency (verbal and written).
  • Experience: 
  • 3-5 years of Corporate Finance experience preferable sovereign / SOEs
  • Strong customer relationship capabilities
  • Strong customer development/prospecting capabilities
  • Strong collaboration abilities
  • Strong analytical and numerical capability
  • Flexible and problem-solving mindset when interacting with customers.
  • Proven ability to work with a team as well as individually.
  • Extroverted personality who is optimistic, likable and able to handle stress.
  • Self-starter / driven / self-motivated.
  • Work with minimum supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience in commercial activity and natural commercial instincts.
  • Technical Skills: 
  • Good understanding market economics and relevant regulations
  • Corporate & Trade finance understanding and experience.
  • Credit / risk understanding.
  • Competencies: Attention to detail, curious, comfortable with complex situations and ambiguity.  Driven, self-starter with high level of verbal and listening skills.
