Job Purpose and Impact

The Facilities Engineering Associate Director will provide day-to-day administrative and technical supervision of a team of engineers, including both capital engineers and process engineers. The position is responsible to lead and provide execution of our engineering capital allocations for a facility or multiple facilities, to lead development and execution of a portfolio of continuous improvement projects, and to take full technical responsibility for the facility's results and effectiveness.  You will serve on the site leadership team providing strategic input into the identification and development of the operational vision, direction and people resources needed to deliver results.

Key Accountabilities

  • Anticipate and plan for future engineering needs and develop the three to five year capital planning required for normal operations.
  • Serve as a member of the site leadership team and provide strategic technical and engineering support for normal operations as well as project engineering oversight support for the most complex base and non-base capital projects.
  • Provide execution oversight for current plan year projects.
  • Direct the tactical development of the operational vision, direction and strategy.
  • Ensure projects meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule and cost.
  • Review feasibility of proposed solutions to engineering problems, personally helping resolve difficult technical problems.
  • Direct and schedule work assignments, reviewing work in progress.
  • Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance and disciplinary actions. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Chemical, Mechanical, Biosystems, etc)
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of supervisory experience
  • Experience with both capital engineering and process engineering
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma and other structured problem solving processes
