Job Purpose and Impact

Cargill’s Gourmet chocolate business brings together distinctive brands, inspiring products and a passionate community of food service professionals. Across Europe, there is an exciting opportunity to build on this appeal, strengthening distributor engagement and turning growing interest into measurable commercial growth. The Trade Marketing Manager role is to bring that opportunity to life through tailored distributor plans and effective marketing activation.

As part of the Europe Foodservice & Retail Strategic Marketing team, the role partners closely with the Foodservice Sales team and Gourmet Brand Marketing to grow Cargill’s Gourmet chocolate brands with distributors and talented chef end users. From the flagship brand Veliche to the wider portfolio, this role translates brand-building activity that creates end-user demand (PULL) into distributor activation (PUSH), helping partners drive Gourmet chocolate sell-out across Europe.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and lead the European trade marketing strategy and annual plan for Gourmet chocolate, translating business ambitions into focused distributor growth priorities, marketing activation plans and measurable objectives that support delivering Cargill Gourmet growth targets.
  • Partner with Foodservice Sales, distributor leadership, and marketing teams to assess each distributor’s potential, agree growth priorities and shape tailored activation plans linked to shared business objectives.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of distributor activation programs, including promotions, seasonal campaigns, sales-team engagement, product demonstrations, events and branded materials, ensuring they engage distributor teams and end users.
  • Bring together market, distributor, end-user and competitor insights to assess market maturity, identify category opportunities and shape activation approaches where trade marketing can have the greatest impact.
  • Work with Gourmet Brand Marketing and culinary teams to adapt brand campaigns and launches to distributor markets and end-user needs.
  • Define objectives and KPIs for trade marketing plans, monitor performance and sell-out, assess commercial impact and return on investment, and use results to improve plans and share effective practices.
  • Represent Gourmet at relevant industry events and trade shows, strengthening the visibility of its brands and building connections that can support distributor growth. The role requires approximately 20% travel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred marketing, business) and/or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 4 years of customer-facing sales or marketing experience, such as trade marketing, customer marketing, channel marketing or sales account managenent.
  • Proven experience planning and delivering marketing activities with customers, channel partners or distributors.
  • Experience managing budgets, evaluating activity performance and using results to inform decisions.
  • Fluent in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 6 years trade marketing experience in FMCG or foodservice, particularly activating distributors through promotions and other customer-facing initiatives.
  • Relevant expertise in the chocolate industry, preferably Gourmet Chocolate.
  • Experience working with distributor sales and marketing teams, foodservice or artisanal (chocolate) customers, or branded products.
  • Additional language skills, particularly French and Dutch.
