This position is in Cargill’s protein and salt business, where we provide wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers, from foodservice operators and grocery stores to manufacturers and exporters.

Job Purpose and Impact

The Responsible Sourcing Lead, Food role implements Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory strategies to ensure responsible sourcing practices throughout the Cargill Food North America supply chain. This role will create long term value in partnership with the business and functional areas, developing processes and assessing and implementing systems and tools, while cultivating a more sustainable and ethical global supply chain. With minimal supervision, this job assists in assessing suppliers, monitoring compliance with ethical and sustainability standards, developing and deploying training and education, and supporting continuous improvement in responsible sourcing initiatives to ensure systems, processes and procedures align with traceability and sustainability programs.

Key Accountabilities

  • CURRENT STATE ASSESSMENT: Implements Partners to conduct thorough assessments of the organization's current responsible sourcing practices and supply chain operations by compiling data used to identify strengths, weaknesses and areas for improvement.
  • SETS GOALS: Establishes specific and measurable goals that are realistic, time bound and aligned with industry standards and methodologies.
  • ROADMAP DEVELOPMENT: Partners to develop a comprehensive roadmap that outlines the steps and initiatives needed to achieve the established goals, including strategies for sourcing sustainable materials, promoting ethical labor practices, reducing environmental impacts, and improving supply chain clarity.
  • ROADMAP EXECUTION: Leads the execution of the initiatives outlined in the roadmap, including implementing responsible sourcing criteria in supplier selection and evaluation processes, conducting audits and assessments, promoting sustainable procurement practices, and integrating responsible sourcing considerations into product design and development.
  • MEASURE PROGRESS: Monitors and measures responsible sourcing initiatives, through key performance indicators, data collection, audits and regular reporting to track progress towards the established goals while implementing effective metrics.
  • COMMUNICATION: Communicates the organization's responsible sourcing efforts and progress to internal and external partners through sustainability reports, public disclosures and engagements with industry initiatives or certifications, including internal and external messaging support.
  • POLICIES & PROCEDURES: Develop traceability and sustainability policies and procedures, and quality management systems.

This position could work from Wayzata, MN, Wichita, KS or Remote from home office within a commutable distance to an airport within the United States.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working on sustainability programs or certification schemes
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

PREFERRED QUALIFICATONS

  • Experience in food or feed related sourcing, procurement, or sustainability
  • Experience in Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory (FSQR)
  • Experience partnering with suppliers and customers to achieve responsible sourcing requirements
  • Ability to influence without direct authority

Compensation Information

The expected salary for this position is $115,000-$140,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
