Job Purpose and Impact
The Company Doctor is responsible for delivering comprehensive primary healthcare services to employees and their families across plantation and mill sites. This role ensures prompt medical treatment, effective emergency response, and proper management of occupational health issues and work-related injuries. Additionally, the Company Doctor supports workplace health and safety programs, drives preventive health initiatives, and provides medical guidance to management on fitness-for-work assessments. The primary objective is to maintain a healthy, safe, and productive workforce.
Key Accountabilities
- Using business knowledge, create, develop, organize and coordinate health and welln
- Develop, implement, and evaluate occupational health and accident prevention programs to identify, assess, and control health risks associated with plantation and mill operations, in alignment with ISO 45001 requirements for risk identification and control.
- Ensure timely and effective emergency medical response, stabilization, and referral for occupational accidents and acute medical conditions. Support incident response procedures to minimize injury severity and reduce lost-time incidents.
- Plan and implement preventive healthcare programs for employees’ families within plantation communities, focusing on maternal health, antenatal care, child health monitoring, nutrition, and the prevention of communicable diseases.
- Ensure high-quality, evidence-based clinical services through structured clinical governance, up-to-date medical protocols, and continuous improvement initiatives across plantation and mill clinics.
- Ensure all clinic licensing, operational permits, and medical personnel credentials are maintained in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as requirements from government inspections and internal or external audits.
- Ensure medical services, licensing, and healthcare operations effectively support plantation and mill operations, with a strong focus on workforce readiness, regulatory compliance, and business continuity.
- Conduct fitness-for-work evaluations, return-to-work assessments, and provide occupational medical recommendations to ensure employees are medically fit for their assigned roles and that workplace health risks are appropriately managed.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders—including HR, HSE, and Operations teams, as well as government health offices, local authorities, hospitals, clinics, and insurance providers—to ensure regulatory compliance, seamless referral processes, and integrated occupational health management
- Maintain accurate medical records, health surveillance data, and incident reports, and analyze health information using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to support management reporting, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and completion of the professional physician program / General Practitioner from an accredited institution.
At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in plantation or industrial settings.
Valid and active Medical Registration Certificate (STR).
HIPERKES Certified (mandatory for practicing in industrial workplaces)
Basic emergency medical training (ATLS /ACLS or equivalent). Additional certifications are a plus: Hygiene Industry, K3.
- Eligible and willing to obtain a Practice License (SIP) at the assigned plantation/mill site
- Ability to perform emergency medical response (triage, stabilization, trauma and acute care)
- Ability to manage occupational injuries and medical emergencies
- Basic understanding of emergency response and medical evacuation procedures
- Experience as an EMS Doctor, ER/IGD Doctor, MCU or Company Doctor
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of supervisory experience
- Experience coordinating with hospitals, ambulance services, and local health authorities
- Strong coordination and leadership skills during emergency situations
