Job Purpose and Impact
Purpose of the role is to operate equipment to bag out finished products from pack bins into pack sizes as specified by the production plan/schedule.
The main part of the role encompasses operating the bagging machine and the ‘robot’ palletiser to prepare finished product for collection by the warehouse (wrapman). The role involves working closely with the other production operators and the supervisor.
The bagging operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the bagging machine and associated equipment. They are responsible for completing and maintaining all packing paperwork, cleaning records and the general quality standard of palletizing.
The bagging operator is responsible for checking batch information via Datastor to ensure the correct details for the batch/product being bagged out, including product code, bag code, pack size and labelling requirements.
They are also responsible for entering batch information into Datastor as each batch is bagged out and informing the supervisor of any yield discrepancies or other QC issues.
Key Accountabilities
- Operate bagging and palletizing machinery.
- Prepare finished product for collection by the warehouse (wrapman).
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of the bagging machine and associated equipment.
- Complete and maintain all packing paperwork.
- Complete and maintain cleaning records.
- Maintain the general quality standard of palletizing.
- Check batch information via Datastor to ensure correct:
Product code
Bag code
Pack size
Labelling requirements
- Enter batch information into Datastor as each batch is bagged out.
- Inform the Production Supervisor of any yield discrepancies or quality control issues.
- Carry out administration and confirmations.Perform cleaning and housekeeping activities.
- Work closely with Production Operators and the Production Supervisor.
- Perform any other duties assigned as required
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Basic level of English (language and written).
- Basic numeracy.
- Good communication skills, written and verbal.
- Computer literate.
- Ability to use the Datastor system.
- Ability to perform manual handling activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in mill production or a related manufacturing process.
- Understanding of COSHH.
- PC literate.
- FLT licence preferred
