Job Purpose and Impact
The Food Safety and Quality Regional Specialist will support regional R&D teams with food safety and quality issues. In this role, you will collaborate with customers, regulators, suppliers and other key internal and external partners to prevent and resolve food safety issues. You will oversee and execute incident management practices, assist facilities in the maintenance and execution of the food safety management system, document management, complaint management and trending and all compliance requirements.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and lead the implementation of key food safety management system programs and critical food safety tasks, including Pre-Requisites Program (for facilities, utilities & service depts), HACCP plan development and implementation for new pilot trial setup.
- Ensure Quality & Food Safety Certifications are maintained and contribute to closing of identified gaps at facilities to bring locations into compliance with Cargill Global Food Safety and Regulatory requirements.
- Actively work with R&D teams on product prototype development, delivery, complaint tracking, guidance on communication content related to Food Safety topics.
- Perform 3rd party manufacturers audit to ensure safe prototypes manufacturing and packing
- Help track monthly business metrics and develop a process to improve understanding of the health of the food safety and quality systems.
- Ensure proper complaint follow up and ensure that high priority complaints are dealt with urgently.
- Collaborate with R&D managers and other facility leaders within a region to build and foster an effective food safety, quality and regulatory culture. Drive operational alignment of local R&D centers and focus on corrective and preventive action implementation.
- Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science, chemistry, microbiology, quality assurance or other applicable field or equivalent experience.,
- Ability to translate and communicate analytical data and technical knowledge to technical and non-technical, internal and external stakeholders.
- Leadership, motivational, and interpersonal effectiveness skills
- Ability to make decisions under pressure
- Project management skills
- Experience handling a large workload with multiple priorities
- Experience with food manufacturing environments
- Minimum of six years of related work experience
- Other minimum qualifications may apply
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in science, chemistry, microbiology, quality assurance, business or other applicable field
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt
- Laboratory knowledge, including Good Laboratory Practice and instrumentation
- Minimum of eight or more years of working experience with four or more years in a technical related field
