Assistant Manager Quality
Job Purpose and Impact
The Assistant Manager Quality, will support the sourcing quality of ingredients in support to Risk Management Sourcing (RMS) team and manage overall sourcing quality by proper risk assessment of the ingredients, manufacturers of by products, suppliers, external storage facilities and providing daily/weekly/monthly reports. In this role, you will collaborate with internal and external teams on basic issues to reduce quality, product safety risks, address customer stakeholder requirements and concerns and collaborate to manage highest possible quality of ingredients across sourcing, storage and consumption.
Key Accountabilities
- Responsible and accountable for planning the resources required to work at sourcing area / market as deployed by RMS. Work very closely with plant FSQR member, RMS member and suppliers/manufacturers to assess the material quality for various physical, chemical, biological hazards and aflatoxin parameters to ensure strict hold/reject/release decisions for these materials in discussion with RMS & FSQR team decide to enter contract / sourcing.
- Ensure necessary test methods, equipment are available and in calibrated condition for any testing to be carried out at sourcing area. Prepare and adhere to calibration and preventive maintenance for these equipment.
- Support new location and material setup including warehouse along with RMS and operations member. Perform end to end tracking, maintain traceability, update and manage key performance indicators, build a supply data in comparison with actual received at plant/warehouse, trend data preparation, power BI working and excel working. Attend to immediate sourcing requirement depending on business plan. Participate in supplier, external manufactures, internal product safety and company facility audit related activities to ensure corrective action plans are in place to meet quality and product safety requirements.
- Work closely with team to support the Supplier Quality Management member for evaluation process to ensure the use of approved vendors who have met the requirements and have completed the required product safety improvements.
- Conduct ongoing vulnerability and risk assessments by routinely visiting warehouse (inhouse and external), accounting for material quality degradation, fumigation requirements, inventory quantity verification. Drive continuous quality improvement programme working with FSQR, RMS, SQM to reduce material quality variability.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, policies and procedures.
- Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, team administration, logistics, monthly yearly budget vs actual, daily update on overall sourcing carried out while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in food science or Chemistry with 5-8 years of hands on experience in wet chemistry analytical test methods such as protein, fat, fiber, aflatoxin, moisture etc.
- Working knowledge on power BI, excel use with formula, PowerPoint.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Expert knowledge of macro ingredients, their regulations
- Warehouse auditing, market knowledge
- Experience in product safety, quality management
