This position is in our Ag & Trading enterprise, where we connect producers and users of grains and oilseeds around the globe through origination, trading, processing, and distribution. We also offer a range of farmer services and risk management solutions.
Job Purpose and Impact
The Quantitative Researcher will help identify and develop novel data sources that have value for trading, and use them to enhance trading intelligence across global commodities markets. In this role, you will need to help identify the needs of stakeholders and gaps in current data capabilities. You will be required to seek out and create data that can uniquely solve these needs by leveraging diverse systems and technologies, including but not limited to generative AI, new forms of sensor and satellite data, as well as internal business data. You will conduct quantitative analysis, develop scalable data workflows and collaborate with internal analyst and technical teams to translate new data into actionable insights for trading decisions and inputs for quantitative strategies.
Key Accountabilities
- Discover, create, explore and advance new external and internal data that can solve key trading problems for Cargill.
- Use new data to provide actionable information and insights for problems and opportunities identified by key stakeholders.
- Closely monitor and network in new technological frontiers that present strategic sources of abundant data, including but not limited to GenAI and remote sensing.
- Enhance data opportunities by engaging internal technological teams whose tools and best practices can be used or adapted to leverage new data.
- Maintain and enhance code, data and process in a scalable fashion.
- Conduct moderately complex analyses and advise the analyst teams accordingly and regularly on its relevance for markets.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum requirement of 2 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 3 years or more of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of industry trends in AI and its use in commodities markets
- Excellent analytical and communication skills – able to translate complex data into actionable insights
- Strong interpersonal skills – able to build trust and collaborate with other analysts, business stakeholders and cross-functional teams
Additional Posting Detail
The expected salary for this position is $90,000 – $110,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
