Senior Customs Advisor
Job Purpose and Impact
The Senior Customs Advisor job develops and implements customs regulatory and advisory activities in a region. With minimal supervision, this job develops and leads the implementation and maintenance of complex customs solutions and processes, while focusing on continuous improvement and adhering to import and export customs regulations, handles legal disputes and audits, and analyzes complex trade matters. This job applies in depth knowledge to develop customs compliance policies and handles customs issues and regulations.
Key Accountabilities
- POLICY & PROCEDURE DEVELOPMENT: Develops and leads the implementation and maintenance of complex customs solutions, planning, compliance policies and procedures to adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
- EXPERT ADVISING: Applies technical knowledge to provide insights to key partners and influences on standard methodologies to ensure compliance with customs regulations and trade policies to mitigate impacts to the organization, and supports recommendations on local and regional technical and regulatory interpretations including classifications, country of origin determinations and regulated product flows.
- CUSTOMS STRATEGIES: Leads collaboration with global and regional partners and other business leaders to support development, implementation and optimization of global customs strategies.
- AUDITS & INVESTIGATIONS: Supports process improvements for the resolution of complex customs related issues, including customs audits, investigations and disputes.
- METRICS ANALYSIS: Analyzes complex data and customs compliance metrics to deliver required insights while identifying compliant customs data.
- RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Interacts with legal counsel and customs authorities to stay informed of regulatory updates and standard methodologies to deliver high quality service in support of the reputation for adherence to import and export customs regulations.
- COMPLIANCE TRAINING: Contributes to the design and implementation of training programs aimed at educating the team and partners on customs compliance requirements and standard methodologies.
- EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT IMPACT: Geopolitical developments and tariff adjustments affected the business, informing our analysis and the modeling of subsequent actions.

Qualifications
Minimum
- Minimum requirement of 4 years of relevant work experience in trade compliance. Typically reflects 5 years or more of relevant experience in trade compliance
- Advanced English proficiency
- Proficiency in Power BI
- Advanced Excel skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior litigation experience
- Experience in the agriculture industry
