Job Purpose and Impact
The Weather Analyst II will contribute to strategic weather related trading solutions and will provide tactical weather related trading solutions to the broader analysis and trading teams using cutting edge technology. In this role, you will work closely with internal teams to identity, prioritize and develop weather related solutions that can bring the most value to trading operations.
Key Accountabilities
- Execute best in class weather analytics efforts and ensure that weather analytics message is heard and understood globally.
- Align South America weather forecasting efforts with global objectives.
- Collaborate and support other analysts and team members to deliver analysis that maximizes business competitive advantage.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives related to weather.
- Drive towards speed, accuracy and communication of confidence intervals for weather forecasts.
- Apply general knowledge to influence thought leadership on new data, technology, tools and innovation and establish processes to efficiently capture potential weather signal generating data.
- Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Proficiency using relevant scripting language, visualization and analysis software to build applications and chart pathways to break down weather data into usable forms
- Proficient in working with and leveraging large data sets
- Relevant experience with weather analytics
- Other minimum qualifications may apply
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to intricacies of weather versus commodity markets
- Experience in weather forecasting for South American commodity regions and communicating weather risk to commodity-sensitive stakeholders
- Working knowledge of applied statistics in atmospheric science, including machine learning/deep learning methods
- Competence in Python programming language for data manipulation, analysis and visualization
