Job Type: Hourly Full Time
Shift Available: Night shift - 5:45 pm to 5:45 am - 4 days on, 4 days off schedule, 12 hours rotating (training will be during day hours)
Compensation: $31.11/hr, with shift differential

Key Accountabilities

The Packaging Operator job includes, but is not limited to the following essential functions:

  • Produce a finished good product that meets both Cargill and customer quality specifications
  • Print product labels, placards or apply stencil for finished goods as requested in special instruction
  • Accurately use production downtime tracking tool to document reason for downtime with complete comments
  • Be knowledgeable of how department KPIs align with Plant High 5’s
  • Complete quality reports in and in accordance w/ department & FSQR specifications
  • Be qualified with all training documentation (checklist or manuals) for task that bid is held as defined by the company document ADM-23-POLY-006 SC QUALIFICATION
  • Complete Operator care routes in at prescribed times and create follow-up log with detailed feedback on issues outside of standard conditions
  • Provide onboarding or department task training for new team members in department or on task
  • Take samples for in process or finished goods checks
  • Interact with peers of opposing schedule to get handoff information
  • Be present, on time and an active participant during shift exchange
  • Have awareness and safe forklift practices while operating
  • Perform FIFO (First In First Out) warehousing techniques or use raw material out of order as instructed
  • Understand the proper usage techniques of both the manlift and freight elevator
  • Accurately account for all raw materials that were scrapped by entering against the correct process order
  • Perform equipment inspection (InfoLink) and light preventative maintenance of Hi-Lo including fuel tank exchange and battery hook up
  • Safely dispose of finished goods that have been set to be disposal or asked to be destroyed
  • Understand the basic operations of our upstream partners (processing) and our downstream customers (warehousing/ shipping)
  • Utilize all tools and processes provided for communication and job efficiency
  • Frequently use SharePoint page for the department to review important notes, direction, and schedule
  • Understand and abide by St. Clair Union Contract and Employee Production Handbook
  • Learn and apply all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and One Point Lessons (OPL) related to Safety and FSQR
  • Comply with the Company’s Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety controls (FSC)
  • Complete tasks assigned via the Master Sanitation Sheet in full and on time this includes sign off on appropriate documentation
  • Complete the with monthly Safety Training and Topics in the Degreed program within the given month
  • Perform tasks in a safe manner utilizing HOP principles
  • Constructively communicate with Coworkers, Peers, Asset Owners, Supervision\Management in a mutually respectful manner
  • Performs any tasks assigned by Supervision and\or Management

Qualifications

Requirements:
•  Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer
•  Cargill requires employees be a minimum of 18 years old to work in a production facility
•  Able to perform physical job duties such as bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation
•  Basic computer skills
•  Able to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)
•  Able to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice
•  Able to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Preferred Qualifications:
•  Experience with SAP
•  Prior experience in production related work
•  Able to operate machinery and/or industrial equipment
