Job Purpose and Impact

The Employee Relations Specialist – Compliance, North America job implements comprehensive compliance programs and policies aimed at ensuring legal compliance, risk mitigation, consistency and fairness throughout the organization, ensuring the organization operates in a responsible and sustainable manner and maintaining the trust and confidence of employees and partners. With limited supervision, this job supports compliance optimization to promote ethical behavior, integrity and transparency.

Key Accountabilities

  • PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION: Implements and supports comprehensive compliance programs and policies by integrating an established and consistent framework for decision making and actions, ensuring employees are treated fairly and consistently.
  • COMPLIANCE OPTIMIZATION: Create and apply available compliance tools and resources to effectively enforce established processes.
  • REPORT DEVELOPMENT: Prepare required government reporting and compliance reviews pertaining to local and regional regulations and programs. Identifies issues or gaps in compliance, enable timely intervention, minimize impact on employee relations and increase overall compliance.
  • CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Analyzes existing policies, identifies areas for improvement, and researches possible new policies to address emerging issues or changes in regulations, while preparing corresponding guidelines to support clear policy direction and promote consistency in decision making.
  • TRAINING & EDUCATION: Supports the development of training and education materials on various compliance topics such as organizational policies, provincial and federal labour laws to enhance awareness and equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to navigate employee relations challenges.
  • COMPLIANCE MONITORING: Monitors compliance with labour laws, regulations and company policies by conducting audits, documenting processes and findings, and researching and proposing possible corrective actions when non-compliance is identified.
  • COLLABORATION: Collaborates with internal partners and cross-functional teams to support the development of strategies and resolutions for moderately complex compliance and employee relations issues, including investigations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.
  • Strong working knowledge of Federal and Provincial legislation.
  • Experience in employee relations, investigations and handling conflict.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual with written and verbal communication in English/French Canadian.
  • Project management experience.
