Job Purpose and Impact

The Manager, Platform Engineering leads a team of engineers supporting the development and operation of Cargill’s data platform capabilities. This role focuses primarily on people leadership, cross-team coordination and enabling delivery across multiple data framework platform initiatives

The manager partners closely with platform leaders and global engineering teams to ensure strong collaboration across regions and continued growth of engineering talent on-site. While maintaining familiarity with modern data platform technologies and cloud ecosystems, the primary focus of the role is building a high-performing team, supporting engineering delivery and enabling platform initiatives to scale effectively.

Key Accountabilities

• PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Oversees the delivery of engineering initiatives by coordinating work across teams, supporting prioritization, and ensuring projects progress according to defined timelines and objectives.
• TECHNICAL GUIDANCE: Provides technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams, promoting adoption of modern engineering practices, automation, and scalable platform design. Supports engineers in applying cloud-based technologies and platform capabilities effectively.
• QUALITY ASSURANCE: Promotes strong engineering quality practices including code reviews, testing, and adherence to established development standards to ensure reliable and maintainable software solutions.
• PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: Identifies opportunities to improve engineering processes and operational efficiency, supporting adoption of best practices and continuous improvement across the development lifecycle.
• COLLABORATION: Works closely with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to align priorities, gather requirements, and support delivery of solutions that meet business and platform needs.
• DOCUMENTATION: Encourages development and maintenance of clear technical documentation for systems, processes, and platform capabilities to support knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
• TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Supports engineering teams in troubleshooting production issues and maintaining reliable platform operations to minimize downtime and ensure timely resolution of problems.
• STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT: Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, alignment on priorities, and effective collaboration across teams.
• TEAM MANAGEMENT: Leads and develops a team of engineers by setting clear expectations, providing coaching and feedback, supporting career development, and fostering an inclusive and high-performing team culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement of 8 years of relevant work experience. Typically reflects 10 years or more of relevant experience.
